Marcus Urch - Commercial Officer

Hi and thanks for your interest in coming to Bridgwater Carnival 2008

The Carnival will commence at 7.00 p.m. Main roads into the town will be closed to traffic from 6.30 p.m., with road closures coming into effect from 5 p.m. to allow for grandstands to be positioned prior to the procession, so if you are coming please leave early to avoid disappointment.

The procession will take approximately two hours to pass any given point. We usually attract in excess of 140 entries of all descriptions.

Finally many thanks for supporting Bridgwater Carnival and please remember the carnival raises many thousands of pounds for charity via your donations so please help us to smash last years total by giving as much as you can to support our many worthy causes.

Enjoy the show!

Directions

Directions for Wickes Car/Coach Park

If you come in on the A38 Bristol road from Junction 23, you will find this a quick way to avoid a lot of the traffic especially if you are running late. To get on to  this road turn left at Junction 23 if you traveling northbound and right if you are traveling southbound at the bottom of the slip road turn left and carry straight on this road and straight ahead at the large roundabout until you see the VW car showroom on your right ahead of you, turn right onto Wylds road and follow this road round, straight over the 1st set of lights and left at the next set, you will see Wickes car park and McDonald’s on your left.

Directions for Angel Place Car Park

This is only for cars but is right in the heart of town and often under used, as people think it will be full when often it isn’t due to its size, follow the directions for Wickes but instead of turning left at the last set of lights turn right to go over the bridge and follow the road round until you get to Angel Place or one of the other official car parks enroute.

If you have come in along the A38 from the south i.e. Taunton follow signs for Glastonbury and you will come to the Cross Rifles pub roundabout, turn left and follow the car park signs.

Motorway Traffic

If you are coming via the M5 please note the road into Bridgwater from junction 24 will close at 6.30 p.m., if you are likely to arrive later than 6.30 p.m. you should proceed to junction 23 as this road into Bridgwater will remain open all evening, follow the directions above to locate car parking.

Coach Parking

We have allocated parking spaces within the town centre for coaches that prebook, making it far easier to drop off and pick up your passengers.

In addition to the general parking there are also limited parking facilities on the route for coaches carrying elderly or disabled people only.

Parking spaces on the route can be reserved for coaches and minibuses carrying the elderly/disabled only, there is a small charge for this, the spaces are on Broadway adjacent to the Morrison's supermarket.

Car Parking

The Carnival Committee works hard to ensure there is ample parking in the town with all main car parks signposted.

The car parks are run in the main jointly between the Carnival and local charities.

You are advised to use the official car parks, there were several incidents in 2006 when cars parked on private land and were clamped and were charged several hundred pounds to get their cars released. Bridgwater Carnival has no control over this practice and cannot accept any liability. You have been warned!

There is a small charge for prebooking coaches, if you require further details on parking in general or wish to book a parking space for a coach please contact our Commercial Officer (pictured above), or ring 07948 972271 for details.
