Chamber Of Commerce Confirmed As Sponsor
April 2010
Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce has just been confirmed as the latest sponsor of Bridgwater Carnival 2010.
The organisation, which was formed in 2008 to promote businesses in and around the Bridgwater area and boasts nearly 60 members, has agreed to sponsor the spectacular squibbing display set to take place at the end of the procession.
The unique sponsorship arrangement also sees the chamber donating each of the 16 carnival clubs who are part of the Bridgwater Gangs and Features organisation with 25 ‘live, give, save, local’ discount cards. The cards which normally cost £2 to purchase, offers club members various discounts with the chamber businesses who have signed up to the scheme including Boots, The Willows Play Village, Timeless Images and Pardoes.
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce for their generosity and support with this year’s event.
“This innovative sponsorship arrangement involving the discount cards will enable local businesses to continue to benefit from carnival related activities, and carnival clubs will theoretically save money as they will have the option to purchase discounted goods and services, which will all result in benefits to the local community as a whole.”
Paul White, from Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce, added: “We are very proud to be associated with the 2010 Bridgwater Carnival, and the discount card means that carnival club members can now take advantage of our ‘live, give, save, local’ initiative.
“The purpose of the incentive discount scheme is to encourage the residents of Bridgwater to use the businesses within the town rather than going further afield.”
