Morrisons Supermarket Sponsor Carnival Centre

Bridgwater Carnival’s newly opened carnival centre has received the backing of a local supermarket.

The carnival centre is situated in the former cash office at Bridgwater Town Hall and was created after Bridgwater Carnival Committee agreed a lease with Sedgemoor District Council. Since its official opening the centre has proved extremely popular with the public and has become a focal point for carnival related activities in the town.
Lyndsay Holland, Morrisons Logistics Resourcing Manager, said: “Morrisons is delighted to contribute to the future success of the carnival through the sponsorship of the centre. I personally attended last year’s carnival and was hugely impressed by the event.
“This sponsorship further demonstrates Morrisons’ commitment to the area in addition to the opening of our new regional distribution centre this winter. Once opened, the facility operated in partnership with DHL will support our aims to take the business from national to nationwide and there will be approximately 1000 jobs for managers, administration staff, drivers, warehouse colleagues and canteen staff.”
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, added: “On behalf of the carnival committee, I would like to thank Morrisons for their help and generosity. If it wasn’t for the support and backing we receive from local businesses, our carnival would not be as popular as it is.
“Having a carnival centre where Bridgwater Carnival can base its activities is a vision the committee has had for many years, and it’s wonderful to see it come to fruition.”
The carnival centre is open on Mondays between 10:00 hours and 13:00 hours, Wednesdays between 13:00 hours and 16:00 hours, Fridays between 10:00 hours and 16:00 hours and on Saturdays between 10:00 hours and 13:00 hours. As well as containing exhibitions and photographs of Bridgwater Carnival, the centre sells official carnival merchandise, including DVDs, fridge magnets, mugs, books, etc.
