Local Talent To Appear At Carnival Concerts
March 2010
Thirteen talented local entertainment acts fought off tough competition at last night’s auditions to secure a front of curtain slot at this year’s carnival concerts.
Twenty five hopeful acts took part in the auditions at Bridgwater Town Hall on Tuesday 23 March, where 48 judges assessed a five minute performance from a variety of different types of budding entertainers, who ranged from vocalists to dancers to comedians.

Rita Jones, concert coordinator for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank every act for taking the time to apply and audition for our concerts. Once again receiving so much interest proves that the Bridgwater carnival concerts are as popular as ever.
“The standard of every act was extremely high, and the judges had a very difficult task in choosing which 13 should go forward to the big event later this year. For those acts who didn’t make it through this time, we would love to see them back auditioning for next year’s event.”
This year’s auditions were sponsored by David Loveridge, Bridgwater North county councillor, and he and his wife, Shirley were asked to help judge the auditions. He said: “We were extremely impressed with the standard of the acts, and it is so rewarding to see that we have so much talent in Bridgwater and the surrounding area.
“Bridgwater Carnival and it’s associated activities plays a huge role in local community life, and I can’t wait now for the concerts to begin later in the year.”
Tickets for the show can be pre-booked from 1 May 2010 at our online shop.
