Souvenir DVD Donated to Local Retirement Homes
February 2010
Bridgwater Carnival organisers will round off 2009 and the 404th anniversary of The Gunpowder Plot by donating complimentary DVDs of last year’s spectacular procession to local nursing and retirement homes.
At a specially arranged visit to The Sydenham House Care Home, Doug Robson, president of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee and fellow committee members, will officially present Clifford Searle, president of Bridgwater Hospital’s League of Friends, with the souvenirs, which are to be shared amongst the residents of Milton House, Bridgwater Hospital, Broadway House, Gibb House, Rosary Nursing Home, Sydenham House, Drummuir Nursing Home, Oak Trees, The Limes, Chatham House and Hilda Coles retirement homes.
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee, said: “We are extremely conscious that every year there are many people who would love to watch the carnival, but for a number of reasons are unable to do so.
“So it makes perfect sense to take the carnival into the homes of the public, to enable them to see for themselves the fantastic entries which give Bridgwater Carnival the reputation of being the greatest illuminated parade in the world.”
Bridgwater Carnival 2009 DVDs are still available to purchase online at www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk or from Dave Croker on 01278 421795. DVDs cost £17.75 (including P+P)
2009 saw the 28th anniversary of the filming of the Bridgwater Carnival video / DVD, and the popular souvenir features carnivalites, Andrew Tallon and Andrew Bennett, providing the humour, wit, facts and insights into all of the entries into Bridgwater Carnival 2009. Bridgwater based, MovingArt filmed and produced the DVD, which was filmed in Widescreen format with surround sound, and 1650 copies have been sold so far.
