New Bridgwater Carnival Website Launched
April 2007
The new website for Bridgwater Carnival was officially unveiled at the local JD Wetherspoon pub, The Carnival Inn, Bridgwater on Friday 30th April.
The site was built and sponsored by Somerset Web Services of Taunton who donated their services free of charge to the carnival committee.
Members of the carnival committee, sponsors of the carnival and staff of Somerset Web Services attended the launch, other notable people there included the Mayor of Bridgwater - Pat Parker, Peter J Nicholls who provided all the photos for the site and last but not least our very own South West Carnival Newsletter editor, Arthur Dyke.
The evening commenced with the new President of Bridgwater Carnival, Doug Robson thanking the people concerned in developing the site, particularily Nigel Finch and Darren Keirle of Somerset Web Services.
After the introductory speech Nigel Finch, Managing Director of Somerset Web Services explained the technology used in constructing the site and gave those present a run through of the site contents.
The Mayor, Pat Parker then gave a complimentary speech on how he felt Bridgwater Carnival benifitted the town in general.
One major benefit of the new site is that members of the public can now order and pay for goods and services online, the sale of grandstand seats is already under way with the first order being received on the day of the official launch.
Souvenirs of the carnival can also be purchased on line as well as the ability to sign up for the Patronage scheme, it is envisaged that later in the year we shall also sell Carnival Concert seats online.
All payments made online are processed securely by PayPal.
Bridgwater Carnival Committee are grateful to Somerset Web Services for their help and support throughout this new venture which we are sure will benefit Bridgwater Carnival tremendously.
