Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee are set to hold two ‘drop in’ sessions in September where members of the public can find out more about the various volunteering opportunities available at this year’s carnival.
The ‘drop in’ sessions, which are being held on Sunday 8 September and Sunday 22 September, 12 noon to 16:30 hours at Kingsdown Pavilion, Bridgwater, are an opportunity for people and local organisations who are passionate about carnival and who want to play their part with the arrangements of staging one of Europe’s largest illuminated processions.
Chris Parker, Bridgwater Carnival’s procession operations lead, explained: “The purpose of these ‘drop in’ sessions is to reach out to the local community and encourage people who have always wanted to get involved with our carnival but never knew how to do so.
“Everybody involved in Bridgwater Carnival is a volunteer, and there are a variety of roles which we need to fill between now and carnival day. If you are over 18 years old and interested in helping out over the carnival weekend, particularly with marshalling and helping our road traffic management team, then we would love to see you at one of the ‘drop in’ sessions.”
