Talent Hunt Begins

Important news for all who have showbiz in their veins – the stage is set the annual Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Concerts talent hunt.
Old hands and newcomers alike are invited to audition for five-minute slots at the Autumn concerts which run for a fortnight.
A great many entertainers have made their public debuts at the Bridgwater Town Hall concerts and for some it proved to be a springboard to perform on far bigger stages.
Concerts co-ordinator Anne Middleton says entertainers are needed on stage while behind the curtains there’s a frenzy of work as club acts change their sets. “It’s an important job and I know audiences really appreciate the front of curtain acts. We’re looking for vocalists, musicians, comedians, magicians, dancers and all-round general entertainers.”
The shows, normally a sell-out, are an important fund-raiser for the carnival and this year they take place at the Town Hall from Monday 29 September to Saturday 11 October. There are six evening performances each week, featuring the 12 Bridgwater carnival clubs and two local dance troupes.
Auditions for the front of curtain acts take place at the Town Hall on Tuesday 20 May.
Anyone interested should contact Anne Middleton at enquiries@bridgwatercarnival.org.uk or by completing the relevant application form which can be downloaded from Bridgwater Carnival’s official website – www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk. Forms can also be collected from the Bridgwater Carnival Centre in High Street. Completed forms need to be emailed / posted back to Anne at: – 21 Somerset Road, Bridgwater, Somerset. TA6 5NT. The closing date for applications is Friday 9 May 2025.
The auditions are this year sponsored by local company, Set Construction Group. Co-founder and director, Lee Unwin, said:
“As a local, having spent over 30 years being involved with carnival, and a lifetime working globally in the events industry, I can assure you it’s very addictive, but can be tough financially. For Bridgwater Carnival to consistently produce such amazing shows, followed by a world-renowned procession, takes commitment, passion, and money, often becoming a way of life for so many in the community. We at Set Construction Group are proud to be able to Sponsor Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival and long may we be able to do so
