Winning Entries Announced and Displayed at Angel Place Shopping Centre
Bridgwater Carnival is pleased to announce the results of this year’s Annual Carnival Mask Competition, which saw participation from 25 local schools in the lead-up to the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
The competition once again highlighted the creativity and imagination of young people across the region, with pupils producing a wide range of colourful and inventive mask designs. After careful judging, the winning entries were announced as:
• 1st Place – Otterhampton Primary School
• 2nd Place – St John & St Francis Church School
• 3rd Place – Martock C of E Primary School
All 25 masks submitted as part of the competition are currently on public display at Angel Place Shopping Centre, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to view the impressive work produced by local schoolchildren.
Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival is the UK’s oldest carnival and one of the largest illuminated carnivals in Europe, attracting tens of thousands of spectators each year. With origins dating back over 400 years, the carnival is a cornerstone of Bridgwater’s cultural heritage and is renowned for its spectacular illuminated carts, community participation and the unique tradition of squibbing, which brings the evening to a dramatic close.
The next Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival will take place on Saturday 7 November 2026, with the procession expected to begin at approximately 6.00pm.
