Following the event’s unprecedented success at this year’s South West Tourism Awards, Bridgwater Carnival has launched its very first mobile app.
Designed and commissioned by Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee’s, Dave Croker, the free app is available to download from Google Play for those with Android devices and from the App Store for IOS device users.
As well as showing all of the latest Bridgwater Carnival news and information, app users will be able to easily purchase tickets for the 2016 carnival concerts which take place between 3 and 15 October and grandstand seats for the grand illuminated procession on Saturday 5 November. Other functions on the app include live links to the Bridgwater Carnival’s official website, news feed, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages.
Dave Croker, life member of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee, said: “Developing a mobile app is something we have wanted to do for a very long time, but whenever we have looked into it, the cost had been astronomical. Then earlier this year I happened to come across a piece of software called Appmakr which allows charities, businesses and organisations to design their very own basic app free of charge.”
Following four months of hard work and dedication by Dave, the app has now gone live and information about Bridgwater Carnival is now constantly readily available at people’s fingertips.
Mike Dodden, chairman of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, added: “We are always looking at ways to ensure our carnival continues for future generations to enjoy, and the introduction of this new app is another example of us doing this.
“The app is fantastic, and it provides a one stop shop for mobile device users to get all of the information they need about Bridgwater Carnival. It also perfectly complements our website and social media presence as we continue to spread the spectacle of Bridgwater Carnival all around the world.”
