The release of free tickets for the much-anticipated Bridgwater Carnival Gangs and Features Old Folks shows has been set for 10am on 23 January at the Carnival Centre in High Street.
The run of three shows will be taking place at the Town Hall theatre on February 26, 27 and 28 of February. Tickets are available for anyone over the age of 60 but be quick to secure seats. The shows are immensely popular, and all the tickets are usually snapped up within a few days of their release.
There is a nightly raffle, which is also free. Theatregoers are asked to make a charity donation if they can. Last year donations totalled £1,300 which went to two local good causes.
Show director Wayne Anker says the local carnival club members love doing the shows. “Previous audience members will testify that the shows, which run about three-and-a-half hours, are a great night out with top quality performances.” All aspects of the shows are in the hands of carnival club members who do the stewarding, sound, lighting, compering, and backstage arrangements. They also provide first aid cover and refreshments.
