Ready, Steady, Book!
Tickets for the 2025 Bridgwater Carnival Concerts are about to go on sale.
The concerts, a dynamic and tantalising preview of what’s to come in the annual carnival parade, feature a cast of more than 600 from a dozen carnival clubs, two dance troupes and a dozen front-of-curtain acts – all competing for an array trophies.
Keen rivalry between the Bridgwater Carnival Clubs for the revered White Hart Cup engenders performances of exceptional standard – a great joy for audiences, but a big headache for the judges!
The 12-night run of concerts, a year in the making, are a cultural highlight for Bridgwater and beyond. This year they are being held at the Town Hall between Monday 29 September and Saturday 11 October.
Tickets become available on Thursday 1 May from 9am at the Carnival Centre, High Street, Bridgwater, and online at https://www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk/carnival-concert-tickets from 10am.
This year’s series of concerts are an absolute ‘must see’, says Carnival Entertainment Director Sarah Humphrey. ‘Anyone who has not seen one of the shows will be amazed by what 600 amateur performers can do, truly West End standard, but don’t hesitate as the concerts will, I’m sure, once again be a sell-out’.
There’s a reminder from Sarah that the concerts are not suitable for very young children. ‘The cradling of small babies, or sitting on laps by young children is not permitted. Every person watching the show must buy a ticket. Wheelchair users and those with mobility aids should let us know in advance so that necessary storage and viewing arrangements can be made’.
Ticket prices range between £16 and £20.50 and there are just under 3,500 available for the 12 performances.
Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival is delighted to announce that the Set Construction Group is sponsoring the carnival concerts auditions for front-of-curtain acts. Co-founder and Director, Lee Unwin said:
“As a local and having spent over 30 years being involved with carnival, and a lifetime working globally in the events industry, I can assure you it’s very addictive, but can be tough financially. For Bridgwater Carnival to consistently produce such amazing shows followed by a world-renowned procession, takes commitment, passion, and money, often becoming a way of life for so many in the community. We at Set Construction Group are proud to be able to Sponsor Bridgwater Carnival and long may we be able to do so.”
The auditions take place at the Town Hall on Tuesday 20 May and there’s still time to apply. Any interested entertainers can contact Anne Middleton at enquiries@bridgwatercarnival.org.uk. Application forms can be collected from the Bridgwater Carnival Centre or downloaded from Bridgwater Carnival’s official website www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk.
FCS International Shipping Limited, a Bridgwater-based global shipping company is continuing as the main event sponsor for the 2025 concerts. MD Lewis White said: “We understand the importance and recognise the prominent role the carnival plays in the town and the local community”.
