Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival has beaten off strong competition and has been announced as one of the winners of the 2016 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards, in the Tourism Event and Festival of the Year category.
This exciting news comes just months after the popular illuminated carnival took ‘gold’ at the 2015/16 South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
The 2016 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards has 20 different categories which reflect the diversity of the region’s tourism industry. All entrants have been subjected to a thorough three stage judging process which has taken into consideration attraction websites, customer reviews, social media presence and in some cases mystery visits by industry experts, before being shortlisted as a winning finalist. By being selected as one of the winners, Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival representatives will join other finalists for a special awards ceremony at Cadbury House Hotel, Congresbury, on Wednesday 19 October 2016, where gold, silver or bronze awards will be announced and presented for all 20 categories.
Malcolm Cattle, president of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, was delighted and said: “This news tops a remarkable year for Bridgwater Carnival and comes just six weeks before this year’s carnival procession on Saturday 5 November.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the carnival committee, the entrants and to the spectators for making this award possible, and it is great to see Bridgwater Carnival continue to go from strength to strength.”
