Tickets for the 2020 Old Folks Show will be available to collect from the Carnival Centre, High Street, Bridgwater, on Saturday 22 February, 10:00 hours to 12 noon.
The popular event, which is organised by Bridgwater Gangs and Features, is held annually to thank local pensioners for their help and support during the carnival season and to recognise those who have kept the carnival spirit alive over the years.
2020 sees the 58th anniversary of the free show, and takes place on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March at Bridgwater Town Hall.
Since the very first performance back in 1962, the event has gone from strength to strength, and even though the show is less serious than the prestigious carnival concerts in terms of content and stage setting, the standards of singing and choreography are very similar.
Local carnivalites also help with the stewarding, sound, lighting, compering, backstage arrangements and refreshments at the show under the leadership of concert organiser Wayne Anker.
Arthur Leigh, President of Bridgwater Gangs and Features, said: “Every year we have brilliant feedback from those who watch the Old Folks Show, and the standard and entertainment value of the acts get better and better.
“The tickets are highly sought after, so if you would like to attend we would strongly advise you to collect your ticket from the carnival centre on Saturday 22 February. Any remaining tickets will also be available from the carnival centre after this date.”
