Toppers Carnival Club was formed in 1994 after a number of members from Young Dragons CC decided to break away and form a new juvenile carnival club. The club’s first ever entry into Bridgwater Carnival was that same year with Alice in Wonderland.

The club’s first major success came in 2004 when it took first place in the juvenile class at Bridgwater Carnival with Luck of the Irish. Further success followed a few years later with another first place at Bridgwater in 2007 with Zulus, and in 2011 the club won with juvenile county cup with their popular entry Diddy Men (Trip Through Notty Ash).

In 2012 the club found itself struggling to recruit new children into the club, and so in order to survive took the decision to change from a juvenile carnival club to a mixed juvenile and adult carnival club. This inspired decision ultimately paid off, and later that year the club presented its first mixed entry titled Panto Time which proved to be a great success with club members and public alike.

Toppers CC prides itself on being a family and friendly orientated club. Members are very quick to point out their highest county position since becoming a mixed carnival club is 9th overall, and they rightly feel this is a massive achievement when you consider all of the other clubs they are competing against are ‘all adult’ clubs.

Supported by PRS for Music

PRS for Music licences the use of copyright music across the UK, giving businesses and organisations the legal permission they need to play the music they want.

These licences ensure that music publishers, songwriters and composers are fairly rewarded with royalties so they can keep making music – and mean that we’re able to support music at events like this.
