- Over 600 performers will take part in the four hour show which is held for 12 nights
- During the 12 nights, the stage will be in use for 336 performances for a total of 48 hours. Throughout the period, each club and dance troupe will perform on stage for 102 minutes (1 hour and 42 minutes).
- 125 different song titles will be sung every night at this year’s concerts.
- The youngest performer in this year’s show is Layla Patch from Julia McDonald Dance Company, who is 3 years old. The oldest performer is 78 year old Alan Culverwell who is on stage for Wills CC.
- 2015 celebrates the 121st anniversary of the carnival concerts (this is the amount of years the concerts have actually been staged, as none were performed during the war years).
- The first ever carnival concert took place in 1883, and admission prices ranged from 1 shilling to 6d.
- During last year’s carnival concerts, our catering team of 20 people who are based in the charter hall, sold:- 7,000 penny children sweets, 1,000 hot drinks, 936 cold drinks (bottles and vans), 336 filled rolls, 400 large bags of sweets, 400 ice creams, 330 pasties and 360 bags of crisps.
- In the early years the town hall would accommodate up to 1,500 people in the audience, seated and standing at the back of the hall and balconies. Due to health and safety restrictions, the capacity of the town hall has been reduced to 390 people (all seated).
- There are 214 children performing on stage during this year’s concerts either as part of a front of curtain act, dance troupe of carnival club.
- 2015 sees Crusaders CC celebrating 80 years in carnival, Lime Kiln CC celebrating 70 years in carnival and British Flag celebrating 65 years in carnival. Let’s hope all three clubs continue to entertain us for many more years to come.
- Every year for the last consecutive 20 years, Sally Williams Dancers have had a set of twins in their stage cast. This year they have 2 sets of twins on stage – Kia and Eve Jenner and Aliesha and Lexi Pople.
- For British Flag CC’s 2015 stage show The Show Must Go On, the club used 360 metres of braid, 288 metres of material, 46 rolls of cotton, and 15 packs of needles on their costumes. The stage set took 180 hours to build, and features 126 metres of fabric. 29 tins of spray paint were used, and the club have 46 people on stage.
