Last night (Saturday 16 August) Bridgwater Carnival lit up the streets of one of England’s most famous cities by taking part in Bath Carnival.
The official Guy Fawkes Cart, which traditionally leads the Bridgwater Carnival procession held annually on the first Saturday in November, joined 14 other entries in Bath’s big parade.
Containing over 900 low energy light bulbs, the flag ship cart contained a cast of 12 performers courtesy of Sally Williams Dancers, Bridgwater, and they joined in the carnival celebrations with their choreographed dance. As the cart snaked around the streets of the historic city, members of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee handed out promotional flags to the hundreds of spectators lining the route.
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “We had a brilliant time at Bath Carnival, and it was an ideal opportunity for us to promote Bridgwater Carnival to a whole new audience. We had a fantastic reception, and it was wonderful to see so many people out on the streets and cheering us on.”
