With the start of the 2018 Bridgwater Carnival Concerts just days away, last minute concert goers have been frantically snapping up the last few remaining unsold tickets.
Billed as the curtain raiser to the eagerly anticipated procession which this year takes place on Saturday 3 November, this year’s popular carnival concerts run from Monday 1 October to Saturday 13 October at Bridgwater Town Hall.
The popular concerts have been an annual feature in Bridgwater since 1883, and over 4,500 tickets have been available for the 12 performances, where a cast of over 600 entertainers from 13 carnival clubs, dance troupes and front of curtain acts entertain an enthralled audience.
Dave Croker, chairman of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee, said: “Our carnival concerts are renowned throughout the county and they are a regular feature in the town’s calendar.
“I am pleased to report this year the tickets have sold really quickly, with some performances selling out weeks ago.
“However, we do still have a handful of tickets left for certain nights, and my advice would be if you haven’t yet purchased a ticket and would like to attend this year’s carnival concerts, then please get it very soon.”
Tickets prices range from £10.50 to £15 and can be purchased from the carnival centre 01278 428220, High Street, Bridgwater or from the online shop at www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk.
At the 2017 carnival concerts Renegades CC won the top award for the first time in their 50 year history. With their performance Maori-Aotearoa, the Bridgwater club won the prestigious White Hart Cup, which is awarded to the gang and feature gaining the highest number of points throughout the concert fortnight. Gremlins CC were overall runners up with Run to the Hills and Ramblers CC came third with The Unfair. Wills CC were the highest placed tableau club and won the Sam Hooper Cup after coming 9th overall with Tempus Fugit.
