The family of a popular Bridgwater bakery are keeping her memory alive by giving something back to the town this Christmas. Judith Legg, who ran Judith’s Bakery in St John Street for nearly 30 years passed away earlier this year, and now her family are helping Bridgwater Carnival by continuing Judith’s tradition of displaying Christmas lights at her home on Westonzoyland Road.
Joy Notaro, Judith’s sister, said: We thought it would be nice to continue Judith’s yearly tradition and have her Christmas lights put up around her house.
“One of her favourite things was carnival, so with the support of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee, we will be taking donations on their behalf.”
The lights were officially switched on at 5pm on Sunday 1 December with Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival’s president, Mike Crocker, joining members of Judith’s family.
Mike said: “I am certain that Judith would be absolutely thrilled that her family decided to uphold her Christmas lights tradition for one more year. She was renowned and admired for the displays she created every year and this year’s lights are a fitting tribute to her memory – she would be very proud. Judith was a great supporter of carnival and this gesture is very much appreciated.”
