Old Folks Show 2022
Bridgwater carnival clubs returned to the stage last week as they performed to packed audiences at the three night Old Folks Show at Bridgwater Town Hall.
Arranged to thank the pensioners of the town for their continued support throughout the year, the popular free show has been a fixture in the town’s events diary since 1962. This year’s performances heralded the return of the show after a two year pause due to pandemic restrictions.
As ever, all of the performances at the show were extremely entertaining, and although less serious with the content and stage setting than the annual carnival concerts held in October, the standard of singing and dancing were incredibly high.
Wayne Anker, who organised the show with Gangs and Features President Arthur Leigh, said: “It was very satisfying to see the clubs, dance troupes and singers back on stage entertaining the public who have given us some very positive feedback.
“I would like to give special thanks to Arthur’s wife, Lynne, who has revamped the raffle, to Billy Bevan who compèred the show for the first time, and to Kim Dodden and her team who provided refreshments.”
