Griffens Carnival Club

Griffens Carnival Club

Griffens Carnival Club was formed in 1968 by a group of employees from the shoe factory ‘C&J Clark Ltd’, which was based at Redgate Street, Bridgwater. The club started life in the comic feature class, before moving over to the open feature class in 1975. In 1976 the club merged with Bath Bridge CC.

The club built their cart in the car park of the Henry Fielding pub, Bristol Road, for many years, but in 1992 managed to raise a loan and bought their present site at Andersea.

The club is known for its original designs and ideas and continues to be one of the most successful on the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnivals circuit, and are always knocking on the door of major success.

The club did not put out a competitive entry in 2022, instead they took charge and provided the crew of the Jubilation cart entering many carnivals.

PRS for Music licences the use of copyright music across the UK, giving businesses and organisations the legal permission they need to play the music they want.

These licences ensure that music publishers, songwriters and composers are fairly rewarded with royalties so they can keep making music – and mean that we’re able to support music at events like this.
